Update: F-16 pilot released from hospital after Spangdahlem crash

The pilot involved in the Sept. 22 F-16 Fighting Falcon crash at Spangdahlem Air Base sustained minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.

The 52nd Fighter Wing appreciates the concern and support expressed by members of the local community and our German partners following the accident. We are also grateful for the swift response and continued support of U.S. and German emergency response personnel.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing and is being conducted in accordance with established U.S. Air Force mishap investigation procedures and Air Force Safety Center requirements. In accordance with policy, additional details regarding the cause of the crash cannot be released while the investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and is appropriate for public release.
